Give away free gun safes and locks as part of efforts to prevent gun violence.

BEXAR COUNTY, Texas — Bexar County Commissioners announced a new gun safety initiative to promote safe gun ownership.
Commissioners are teaming up with university medical centers to prevent people, especially young people, from receiving firearms that are not properly secured.
Bexar County will give away 3,800 portable gun safes and 1,000 pistol cable locks free to residents.
Residents must register in advance at www.gunsafety4bexar.org to receive a gun case and/or gun lock. Only one pistol safe and one gun lock will be issued per household.
